A Mediterranean tradition.

In 1930, cousins Pietro De Sarro and Natale Torchia learned the art of making famous “coffee sodas” from their uncle Vincenzo Ferrise, who had produced them in a small factory in Calabria, Italy since 1904. Driven by their passion for the work and the product’s potential, De Sarro & Torchia realized they could develop a modern production and start an autonomous business. In 1941 the obstacles that they had to overcome were enormous due to the restrictions imposed on new corporations, but their faith and courage helped them persevere.

De Sarro & Torchia's first facility, operated completely by hand, occupied less than 500 square feet of space and produced less than 1,000 bottles per day. Once the difficulties of the war had passed, the cousins introduced a semi-automatic facility which increased their production to 10,000 pieces per day. This prompted an inauguration to the public. With the gained trust of the new masses of consumers De Sarro & Torchia found themselves overwhelmed by demand for this quality product.

This new-found popularity initiated more growth and a modern factory was opened, updating the semi-automatic operation to a fully automatic one capable of producing 50,000 pieces a day. To this day, the public demand for this genuine product is greater than ever before. Today De Sarro & Torchia produces up to 10,000 bottles per hour packaged in both glass and PET with twist off caps and distributed world-wide.
